Our favourite Instagrammer this week is Emily who is behind the lens at @brickdustandglitter.
For glimpses of happy, everyday family life and bright bunches of flowers, head over to Emily’s feed to see all of that and much more! It’s lovely to see some Plum & Ashby products appearing here and there, too! Read all about her using her Granddad’s camera and where she finds her inspirations!
Describe your style in 5 words
Bright, simple, delightful, inspiring, family.
What are the tools you use to create your feed?
I have a Nikon DSLR camera which is over 10 years old. It was my granddads and had become unused, so when I started taking more quality photos, he allowed me to use it. It is great on some occasions, most in fairness but can be very frustrating in others due to its age.
I don't use any filters on my photos but usually only take photos in daylight and up the brightness and highlight to give it that clean and bright look.
Who or what inspires you?
It is hard to say, I take inspiration from what I have been looking at for years, magazines like Country Living or Country Homes and Interiors have been a staple in my life for years and I suppose the style of them has massively influenced me and how I arrange things. More modern influences come from Pintrest, which has a huge range of pictures to help get my mind thinking. And now Instagram is a huge platform for sharing and finding out about trends and how people style things.
If you had an extra hour in the day what would you do?
Sit down but not on a computer. I spend so much time flitting about at home so between being a mum and sorting out the usual house stuff, I find that in any spare time I am uploading pictures and checking emails. An extra hour in a day would serve to just sit without a device near me!
What is your personal motto?
I am a practicing Catholic and I often have to say to myself "let your will be done". As a blogger making contact with brands or hoping to work with people can get you a bit obsessed. I try to step back and just think about my path in life and "what will be will be."
Who else should we follow on instagram? Who's your top three?
I really love @katgotthecream, @capturebylucy and @littlemaldod.
